Closure Activities - Exit Tickets

Students need a structured organization for the concepts/skills they are learning. They also need to deepen their thinking by attaching context to the content through their own personal experiences.  Closure activities help define both your teaching agenda and the intended learning progression.  As a deliberate part of your planning process, closure activities summarize the current lesson, provide it context, and build anticipation for the next. Reinforcing what students have learned, closure activities also serve as an assessment tool with which to evaluate your student's retention level, as well as your own effectiveness.

Differentiated Instruction: For second language learners, students of varying reading skill, students with learning disabilities, and younger learners:

• Have a variety of exit slips and differentiate which students get which ones   

• Allow students to work on their exit slips in pairs or small groups  

• Allow students to verbally express the information
